My mum didn’t like “pussy-footing around” – i.e., being tactful. She’d get really annoyed if you took the time to figure out how to say something nicely. “How do you like my dress?”While I’m trying for something along the lines of “it’s unusual”, or even “stunning”, she’d just flat out tell you it was ugly, and you should go change.
