From her ready preparedness, it seems as though Nara has had to deal with this reaction to chewy wads before. And Alice’s concluding question, of course, evokes her own grandma’s quirk….

I get mochi at a local sushi place. They aren’t at all hard to chew, although they’re gooey enough that I understand some people do choke on them. But that’s only if they try to cram the whole thing in their mouths at once.I suspect that chewy wads aren’t as good as mochi.

I totally missed the link between Alice’s question and her G-Ma’s quirk. This strip has lots of great nuances!

When I was serving in Viet Nam my grandmother would make brownies and send to me. However, she would send them the cheapest possible way which meant by the time they reached me they were like fuzzy gravel. We used to joke that if we ever ran out of ammunition we could throw brownies at the enemy.

Night-Gaunt49 – Again, I learn something new by reading the comics – thanks. Retired Dude – that’s funny. Did you ever tell Grandmother? Chewy wads just doesn’t sound appetizing.
