Alice: Dill, why do you wear that silly hat? Try mine on- Dill: It won't work. Alice: Of course it'll work. Dill: my head is too round. It won't stay on- Alice: Ha ha! Do it again! Alice: ha ha! Dill: Pop Alice: Pull it way down over your face! Dill: Okay, stand back... Dad: This happened how? Alice: Dill's big dumb head. I took his silly clown hat so we'd be even.
Dill is so happy to do his odd thing just to please Alice (note his expression in panel 5)!
And, as an adde bonus, Mr. Otterloop gets to save the day (i.e., the treed hat) and become a hero in Alice’s eyes!
