Remarkably, Dill has the John Wayne gait down pretty well.

These boots are made for walking. And that’s just what they’ll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.

“There was purpose in his stride, a no-nonsense air surrounded him. Some folks said that it was more likely a dirty saddle. Some smells you can’t wash out.”

A little obscure at first, but once Alice and Beni provide the clue, an “Oh, of course!” reaction. Neatly done!

If you’re going to reference classic literature, you need to get your facts right. Dr. Frankenstein is the mad scientist character in Mary Shelley’s book. The Monster is not named Frankenstein. But it is Frankenstein’s Monster.

The “cowboy walk” is due to hip dysplasia problems caused by straddling his horse for 12 hours/day.

Bless Dill Wedekind! He is so determined to mosey on with those brother’s boots, and he is happy while doing it. Beni and Alice should not whisper behind Dill’s back….

You’d better fit those boots are they will rub your feet bloody raw down to the bone.
