We had a great hill back home. Courthouse hill. You had to be careful when crossing an access road, and make a quick sliding stop at the end to avoid going out on Maim Street. The access road was one way, and if there was recent snow piled up you could jump the road.

what an impatient one Alice is (and Petey looks stronger than he looks pulling the sled with Alice thereon)

“Can’t see a thing!”? Petey’s scrawny butt blocks out the horizon? Don’t think so!

I hate the tubes and saucers – you always end up turning around and going down backwards – no control and can’t see anything…

If you want to go faster Alice, get up off the sled and help pull it. If you are going to gripe, go home.

If the hill’s too crowded, there’s always the trip down the side of the school building…

Iguanas fall from sky [says headline; really, from tree branches]! —That’s this week’s news.
Kids fall from sledding hill! —That’s the Cul de Sac news of the day.
I’m not sure why Alice can’t see, but she is probably better off for it.
Petey, meanwhile, stoically forges on….
