I loved softball as a kid. I was able to hit singles, play first base and even hit a home run one time. So, a little better than Petey. I am guessing that Alice would love to be an umpire calling everybody “Out!”
I was Petey. Played outfield by the fence next to the PO. Watched them burn undeliverable letters. And like Calvin, didn’t even notice when the teams changed.
We played a version of baseball in grade school that was more like batting practice. The big boys got to bat and the rest of us were fielders. I was usually the pitcher because I tried to throw the ball right where the batters wanted it. When I heard (much later) that the pitcher was supposed to make the batter swing and miss, I was really shocked.
I have the same problem with long strings of verbal instructions. I’m paying attention but as I try to grasp the first part, the rest of it is flying by.

I got hit in the nose 3 times playing ball in grade school. I learned to avoid the ball no matter what position I played.

unless it’s got a no interest in going after you, there is nowhere to run or hide from the ball. :D

Evidently no matter who draws him, Kevin is a bucket-head.

I really can’t think of any Petey appropriate place at a picnic. Maybe just the car.

Are these new? Or are they reruns?

Wow! Look at Petey do a “bigfoot-style” run away from the ball, to Kevin’s consternation….

Anybody else besides me actually read the gibberish?
