Draw a picture of a Trebuchet (love that word) and print under it, “I’m casting you my best wishes for a Happy Birthday!”.

I hate that image of gum under the table.

With all that gum in his hair, Dill could just jump up out of his deep trench on the playground and stick to the bottom of Alice’s swing.

Good idea, Alice, you’ve got a great start on a really nice flower there already…

I love “under the table” gum. Gum from the ’50s had the best flavor by far.

Do like mom says, Alice, and think of something special about Dill. And what’s the most special thing about him? He has you as a friend! So draw a picture of yourself. This way you fulfill many of your narcissistic tendencies at once, plus you remind Dill of how lucky he is to know you!

Okay, that was really funny, Alice (whether you meant it to be so is a separate question). But Mom’s solution is simple, almost a panacea….
