Any four-year old who has the kind of mature self-awareness on display here would, I think, also have a self-regulating way of defusing tantrums, if so inclined.
Petey is a waiting time bomb, I know when my son was between 14 and 17 my ex (his mom sent him to me because he was failing in school) could not handle him, I am not a child psychologist but my mother too had a hard time with me at that age (she raised my brother and I alone when our dad passed) I find it true that a father figure at home at that age is very important.
Alice is a tantrum train with a destiny for derailment. Not even blueberry whipped cream waffles will slow her down. Teenaged angst has nothing on her.
Cul De Sac is the gift that keeps on giving. Doesn’t matter how many times I have seen this strip, it always feels fresh and makes me smile/laugh. 13 is indeed Kablamo!

I liked all of the comments posted here before me. You all have a nice rest of your day and don’t throw any tantrums or anything.

Why am I envisioning Petey’s explosion to be him misplacing a library book two books down from its rightful spot?

But in Petey’s case, it will be his backpack that goes KABLAMO!

Time frame is about right for Petey – maybe he moved to Portland?

Petey is far more economical with his emotions than is Alice. So far, he’s been pretty placid, but when puberty hits he may go bonkers!
