I don’t look it, I certainly don’t act it, ergo I must not be it!

I’m almost as old as my parents. I’m catching up to them.

I finally caught up with my dad, and my son has caught up with me. We’re all 30, and that seems about right.

Some people look physically old at 45; some never seem to age.Genetics plays a big role. Hard work, an outdoor life, stress, and illness can make a body age faster. But so what?

I’ve known a few people who stayed what we would call “youthful” in spirit and mind well beyond the point where their bodies betrayed them.

Our culture is far too judgmental about chronological age. We call those who remain curious, who care about others, exercise their minds, and show gratitude for their lives “youthful,” while in other cultures, the same qualities are admiringly attributed to becoming older and wiser.

@TonyMy mother-in-law is 75 and looks younger than I do at 60. My hubby is 55 and has less gray in his hair than his 2 younger brothers. I guess it’s all genetic.

" How old is old? " I believe that depends on what is being aged. I mean work gets old really quickly, whereas fun never gets old. Confusion comes if you have fun at work.

    30. And I’m 54 – at least 24 years too old.

I live by the philosophy that growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

I think I aged well, like a fine vintage wine….where the cork cracked many years ago!

I’ll be 73 in July and have been told that I don’t look it, although some days I feel all that and plenty more.

Yeah, Spork, that is much worse. Start packing your bags, you just wore out your welcome.

    2nd question

You familiar with the phrase, “I’m just pulling your leg”? When I was a bank teller, I had a lot of customers who would wait in my line for me even though other tellers were available. One of my regulars was the owner of a Chrysler Dealership. He had one artificial leg and everyone knew that. We were talking and joking, and I said to him, “Oh Ed, I’m just pulling your leg”. I was SO EMBARRASSED, and felt like an a@@. He was laughing and said, “No problem, don’t worry about it! I thought it was funny.” He was really nice about it, but to this day some 30 years later, I still feel bad and dumb. Our friendship continued with no problems until he passed away.

I seem to remember reading a study (don’t ask me where cuz I don’t remember) that “old” is 10-15 years older than your current age.

Definition of “Old”: the first time you walk into a room and wonder what you intended to do there.

Yeah, and I dang near “feel off” the limb! :-D

He was a good guy, and didn’t take offense at all, but I felt like an idiot as soon as the words left my mouth! :-(

I feel exactly the same way.

My mother said when I was young I told her ’I’m never going to grow up.’

Said she didn’t know I meant it. Ü
