OK…. On Facebook, Tony is asking the very same question today as yesterday….“How’s your eyesight?” ….Which… um… we answered, Tony…and well….it has nothing to do with today’s strip. So now I suppose I’m supposed to come up with something to say about that, instead….but it’s past my bedtime…

Bev.. I saw, thanks…. Only cos you asked:They were hard contacts…. after all, I turned 16 in the dark ages….I left home at 17 for college…by 19 I was on my own.So frivolous things like… oh… say.. eye exams… were not in the budget.

I did, however, have cheap insurance for my contacts….over the years I broke or lost one occasionally. The company never required that I get my prescription updated…just mailed me a new lens.Talk about being an idiot (cartoon reference there…. see how I slipped that in?)I just kept wearing the same prescription till I was almost 30.By the time I had an eye exam, the lenses had damaged my corneas.

They were too distorted to take an eye test … but I couldn’t wear my old contacts. So I could barely see for several months while they healed.I missed busses, fell in the bay, had all kinds of adventures…till I could finally get glasses.

Between the severe astigmatism and the bits of remaining damage, plus sheer laziness on my part, so far I’ve never found contacts that work…. and by now I’m not sure I care.Anyway…. how often do you put in a fresh pair? Is it really every day?

As for your posts… I’m confused.I remember seeing pictures on Ten Cats and thinking… “hey, but Bev is out of town…”But now I can’t find them.So…. maybe I was mistaken about what day I was looking at…but I sure didn’t think so at the time.??

Neverenough … Thanks. But gosh, it was so many years ago, I rarely think about it at all any more..and would never have posted all that, had it not been for Tony’s and Bev’s questions. As I get older, it does push into my consciousness a bit, though…. especially trying to see on a 14" laptop.

Bev… so sorry…I forgot to thank you!

Sorta glad that you may not have come back yet.

Is it a real McKenzie-Childs? So generous of you.
