I have wrapped the lid to a box a couple of times before. The main reason was that the box was in good condition, but the lid had some marks on it that would have spoiled the looks. It was not a new box. Wrapping the lid makes it look more special. We re-use a lot of things here – it is called recycling now.

I had to wrap the lid separately on a gift I was giving to my fiance at the time. We had a long distance relationship, I had to fly from CA to WA, and didn’t want the package ruined by TSA. (Now married almost 30 years.)
