When I was a child, the word “grounded” wasn’t yet in our vocabulary. We might have been told to go to our rooms, but no long-term isolation was ever specified. Of course, back in the 50s, having to spend the afternoon alone in one’s room was a lot different than it is today. The one black and white 3 channel console television was in the living room or den, the one phone was hard-wired and was on the kitchen wall, and for families that had an extension, it was probably in the parents’ room. There were no computers or cordless phones or cell phones. The closest thing to solo entertainment a child might have in his/her room would have been books.

    Tony asked

    Are you grounded?

Curfew’s over, we are vaccinated and boostered, but we still avoid crowded places most times.

Bad knees, too. The medical bandages were too long (wrongly measured), I’ll get some new next week probably.

War in Ukraine, energy crisis here in Europe, inflation,…

Living in the here and now consciously? – Unfortunately.
