Totally self-centered comment here. When I was in the seventh grade, our teacher gave us the assignment of counting to 5000 in Roman Numerals! We wrote them down on a paper to be handed in. We all worked on the papers feverishly during recess, lunchtime, after school and any free time we had. Worked alone and in groups helping and encouraging one another! This was over an entire week! Somehow most of us enjoyed the exercise and I have never forgotten it. One of the things I took away was the ability to interpret the copyright dates listed in the beginning credits of movies of the time. I was/am a cinephile and excited to know just when the movie was made or released. Of course, they don’t do that so much on todays’ movies, but it was fun while it lasted. In a situation like today’s comic, I get to use my knowledge once again! It is one of the most cherished and useful contributions to my education I have ever had! You would think I would remember the teacher’s name, but alas, I don’t. I just remember what she gave me!
