Horace has a GoComics account? Nice! Wait, if he’s on GoComics, and I’m on GoComics, is someone else on GoComics watching us?

This is why adblockers were invented.

If the X on the ad isn’t too small to click on, it is hidden among the graphics or takes 60 seconds or more to show up.

The white “x” on a light background is the worst.

Pop up ads deliberately put the X in unexpected locations in light tone so you are stuck watching the ad. The very worst ones pop up in the center of the screen and fade the rest out. I’m talking to you, The Daily Cartoonist (the very worst site for annoying pop ups)

It does feel like that sometimes. Especially when the ad takes over the entire screen. I just assume it’s a tease.

you can try, but sometimes I think it just means you going there anyways even if you do push it. :L

Made you look, though, really close, too.

It used to be you could click anywhere on the “X” box and close those windows, now you have to play a game of “Operation” and hit the exact middle of the X.

I recently witnessed a giant rant from (shall be nameless, but you’ve been to that site) website about how adblockers were putting them out of business. Well, guess what? It’s not the ad blockers, its the websites and ISP’s refusal to police their advertisers. It’s rather like telling someone that refusing to shop at a grocery store that won’t provide security and encourages muggers, pickpockets and screaming crazies to attack customers that it’s the customers fault for not shopping there.

Back in the day when I ran Chrome on Windows XL, I had an ad counter. One time, when I went to enter an online contest, it counted 103 (that’s right, 103) bloody ads and pop-ups. And they wonder why ad-blockers are so prevelent…
