My mother saved toothpaste tubes, a throwback to WWII when the tubes were made of lead (a soft, pliable material). The tubes were sent somewhere to be melted down to make bullets to shoot the Germans. However, this was now in the 1950s when the tubes changed over to plastic. Thank goodness the Germans had a change of heart.

So I would guess they are made of flour, salt, water and egg. Not sure if that’s a recipe for a muffin, biscuit or…, disaster.
