One way to see if someone is telling the truth is to consider the source. While scammers try to obscure the source, Mamet doesn’t seem that smart. I can hear the Bridge Club ladies now…,
Bridge Club lady 1. “Ooh, look, they’re updating my security at the bank.”
Bridge Club lady 2. “Me too!”
Bridge Club lady 3. “Let’s send them our card numbers.”
Mamet’s mom…, Oh look the email’s from Mamet. Don’t send in your card numbers ladies, it’s a scam.
I read today that this is call “pig butchering” and the powers that be think that people are offended by that term and don’t report being scammed. If you are scammed for a bunch of money and don’t report it for fear of being labelled then you deserve losing the money.
