the Y’all Mart in this area have greeters but they don’t really greet you nor do they put a sticker on your returns like they used to. Mostly they just sit there and watch the people coming and going. But like Jo Clear said, it is a job and that is a good thing for the folks that have it.
I’ve heard from someone that worked there, that their real job is to make sure no one is stealing stuff. That’s why they occasionally want to see your receipt.

For minimum wage, you get minimum service and no smile. Those cost extra.
