I have a lakeside camp, next door to an AirBnb. I see people arrive there and spend the first day outside all day. Next day they spend indoors – nursing sunburns I suspect.
Aloe vera lotion that has been chilled. Drink lots of cold water and use ice packs on those areas that might need a little more attention. For the next day, and thereafter, use a good sun screen, wear light weight long sleeve shirts and big hats and sunglasses.
I was a natural red head in my younger days and still have a red head’s complexion. Wash yourself with buttermilk, let it dry and then take a cool – not cold – shower.

Take a long, cold shower.
Been there; done that.

Vinegar bath. It burns like the dickens, but helps cut down on infections.

A bad sunburn is hard to treat, especially when the slightest breeze, like that of the air conditioner being on, hurts like the dickens.

“For a bad sunburn, lay out in the sun far too long…”
“Thanks…”

Been there, done that as a child on a Cape Cod beach … an early life lesson …!
( not sure it was worth it, though … but, no pain, no gain )
