I find the Phantom is a much better strip, with a similar theme to Tracy. It’s sort of a Dick Tracy in the jungle, but very well executed. It’s better in every way. Good plots, good drawing-very good drawing-and no wasted time or repetitious sequences. It moves right along. A good show, indeed.
Jack’s body, now with blood running out of it, is still on teh casino floor. I wonder if the Naperville authorities have removed Angelorious or her smoldering car from the highway yet?
Has Snotpickers’ Notebook degenerated to Driver’s Ed now? Locher used to try to connect them distantly to the story. I guess since there isn’t a story now, he’ll start his own version of Driviers’ Ed. Next week it will be on tricyle parking in a Wal Mart parking lot.
Um, we have a new writer, his name is Jim Broeman, his name is below Dick Locher’s. Am I the only one who thinks this story is better then the last few we have seen? The complaints won’t change the storyline…
Yogi Berra said “If you can’t accept losing, you can’t win”.
This storyline, as bizarre as it is, IS better than the last few storylines were.
BTW: I wonder if Tess ever straightened out that mess with the credit card company…?
Dick Locher has been associated with DT for over half a century He assisted Chester Gould in the late 50s until his retirement in 1977. Starting in 1978 Locher has been the main creator with several collaberators that have come and gone. We all notice the gradual deterioration of the strip after all Mr. Locher is now older and may not have the same verve he had years ago. I understand he is much beloved in the newspaper business and therefore can do no wrong. Who will fire Grandpa? In time Mr. Locher will know when to put his pen down as did Chester Gould. We will have to wait for a new DT.
Locher has NOT been with the strip continuously since the late 50s. When Gould retired Rick Fletcher took over the artwork with Max Collins as writer. Fletcher passed away in 1983 and Locher took over the artwork and has been there since.
So many loose ends, so many continuity errors. The good ole days of this strip are in the rear view mirror as well. How ironic is the Snotpickers Grab bag today? Locher and Brozman are destroying the once venerable Dick Tracy and made him the laughingstock of the Naperville PD.
I suppose the crimestoppers textbook thing could be from a news story. A little over a year back there was a story about just such an incident, teenage son backed the car and accidentally killed his four-year old sister who had run in back of the moving car. This made the news because this was a prominent Christian singer’s family, but I’d bet you could find similar stories of hits and near-misses in most towns from things like this.
I have to pay special attention to stuff like this because (a) I don’t have a back window and (b) the apartment complex I live in has scores of children who run and play and don’t always pay attention to moving vehicles around them. Killing one kid can wreck your whole day, if you get my meaning.
Would someone please get that inept burglar a tourniquet. Or switch hands that the trap is on like earlier. Dude been bleeding for about 3 weeks. Also, didn’t someone yell. Clean up on aisle 5, where OEJ has been lyinf for 2 weeks. Is Arse gonna channel Brush??

I believe KofC should hold the mouthpiece somewhere near his mouth. And not try to stick the whole phone through his ear…

After lingering for years the once great detective Dick Tracy has indeed died.

I was at a comics convention the other day and bought a Dick Tracey anlogy form the 1940’s. It was much better back then.

Running over a basketball is a serious crime indeed.

That’s pathetic…he repeated the “Yogi” quote from yesterday’s strip…but changed the wording.
Probably because he couldn’t remember it from way back then, and figured he’d get paid the same whether he bothered to check or not.

Why is the KofC speaking to Tracy on his cellphone? Weren’t they in the same room together when Clubby shot Jackie?

C’mon, y’all, let’s try to be positive and point out the GOOD things about today’s strip:
They learned how to spell “varmints” correctly. Errrrr…. OK, I got nothing.Froxkrybra over 15 years ago

Brozman is the new Artist of the strip. Locher is the one making up the stories.

Go to your local livrary and see if they have a collection of old tracy comics from the forties or fifties. See what the Real Dick Tracy was like.

Always check what’s in front of your car before you start driving. There could be another car, a tree or even a building right there.
