All this time, I’m sure we’d all assumed Mordred had been muzzled with this mask Silence of the Lambs style, to prevent him from biting people.
Now Locher’s asking us to believe that a criminal would be allowed to keep and wear a mask all through the arrest, trial, and incarceration process. That is not how things work.
Saturday - gun in Spacy’s right hand
Sunday - gun in Spacy’s left hand
Monday - gun in Spacy’s right hand
Tuesday - gun (must be) in Spacy’s left hand.
What’s strange is that Mordred was described as the most hated man in the country and an infamous serial killer, yet Thick knows squat about him. Once again Locher gives us the most clue-free detective in literary history.
I’ve been puzzling over this for hours. ” … But it won’t save you, Tracy.” Why would Morbid say that? Is there any way in which getting Morbid to remove his mask, or to talk, could get Thick out of trouble? Even by Locher’s bizarre standards this makes no sense.
It was thoughtful of the Justice Department to give Mordred a bondage ensemble that complements his gimp mask. How on earth did they find a restraining suit and FORTY FRICKIN’ POUNDS OF CHAIN that work so tastefully with a goggle-eyed zip-up mask? One wonders how they managed to resist adding sequins and rhinestones to Dr. Mordred’s wardrobe.
The giant grasshoppers must be around somewhere. They drank up all the water on the floor, and one of them apparently used his chirping leg to comb the Dickster’s hair.
I see that the waves are back up to the second floor. The granery is chirping as it is about to collapse but all DT is concerned with is what Mordred looks like. Notice he’s not tired any more. Must have got his second wind.
I think Tracy is still tired. Look at his expression in panel 1. He looks delirious.
It appears that the way things are going to end Tracy is going to be saved at the last minute. Whats up with the small talk? Is the man killing time in hopes that hell lucks out again? Im sure Sam will bust through the door to the granary and swim to the top floor, saving Tracy at the last possible second. I doubt any of it will make any sense.
So who’s palm-less hand is that doing the Morbid mask striptease? It looks like Bracey’s suit but if you’re unzipping someone else (don’t ask how I know), isn’t your thumb at the top for more pulling strength instead of the side like this? And why does the hand only have three fingers? Too close to the mouth slot before?
So many questions whose answers that I really don’t care about.
Bill, I’ve gone back to the beginning of this “refuge” in the granary, on January 12. There are now over 20 times that this panel has been used, including Sundays, or at least the same panel with slight different waves.
This whole time I’d assumed the mask was some inexplicable bondage device the cops put on the guy. Which made no sense, but it made more sense than the cops letting the guy wear his own mask as he was being transported to jail; and way more sense than the idea that such a dangerous felon was to be transported by one cop, during a storm.
brownceb, weird as it seems Locher drew to or three basic views of the granary, done from the same point of view but with a definite change in the building and background. The one he used today shows the granary with a tilt to the left, as though it’s falling over. The other shows it standing up straight. Both of those drawings have their own basic pattern for the storm and waves.
Each time Locher reuses one of those templates he makes a slight change here and there–some extra white dots on a wave, or some different shading-lines on the granary. It’s as though he’s playing a prolonged, childish game.
I’m sure he’s using a clip art approach to other features in the strip. Horn Hair and Testicle Chin have a very limited number of expressions on their, well, faces. And when you see Horn Hair from the side, her signature hair curl is always on the side of her face away from the reader.

Dosed to the gills, Thick gives way to temptation. He asks Mordred the fatal question, and Mordred teasingly makes his move …

And this is the twelfth time we’ve seen panel #3.
“On the twelfth day of Spacy Dick Locher showed to me
“Twelve stupid panels “Eleven clueless coppers “Ten dead-end plot-lines “Nine pointless questions “Eight ceilings leaking “Seven wasted weekdays “Many boring chatfests
“Six-fingered hands!
“Forty pounds of chain “Three brainless stooges “Two loverbirds “And a story that’s totally at sea.”

“Why do you wear that mask?”
Are things so slow that we’re getting lines swiped now from the Lone Ranger?
Today’s the 12th appearance for the gator in the lower right. It’s had more appearances than Sam and Lizz.

The gator has better lines, too. And will it return? Let’s put it this way: “See you later, alligator!”
