Remember how much you enjoyed July4th when you reach for the Tylenol bottle this morning.

I see Diet Smith is on the laptop. I wonder what Diet Smith has up his sleeve this time.

Love the use of silhouettes.Is that just a picture of Diet Smith in Panel three.I think the coloring is throwing me off.

If you moved Diet Smith’s eyebrows up to the top of his head,Diet would look like Moon Maids family.

The funny thing here is in the case with Mumble’s second “death” Tracy did see the body. The out there was the same one use by Miguelito Loveless in the Wild Wild West episode “The Night Dr Loveless Died”—like Loveless, Mumbles practiced yoga and put himself in a death like trance. I think something similar happened with Pruneface and suspended animation.It should be noted that at least two of Tracy’s rogues gallery were thought to be dead when he first encountered them—The Blank and the Mole.

Jerry Robinson? The Batman artist? :>)

Kind of a weird art day. Everything seems really busy, it’s a little hard to tell what’s going on.

I was watching Family Feud yesterday (It was a slow day!) and one of the survey questions was to name someone famous named Dick and out of 100 people surveyed DT came in second only to Dick Van Dyke.

Another great strip.

I’m with Gweedo; I didn’t recognize Diet, and instead I thought it was a panel-within-a-panel, perhaps in tribute to whomever “Robinson” is. But laptop seems most likely. I like Junior’s turning to a comic book as his authority!

The man on the laptop is Vitamin.

I concur with those who believe that’s Diet Smith on the computer screen (I’m not convinced it’s a laptop).

Pretty sure “Robinson” is James, author of the excellent “Starman” comic that ran from 1994-2001 (the whole thing is available in trade paperback, check it out!). The line Junior quotes sure sounds like him.

I totally agree NightShade! The video screens in the crime lab, the full backgrounds, the silhouettes and heavier use of black all give today’s strip the feel of classic Gould “blueprint expressionism.” Congrats to the new team!

I wish that there was a newspaper around our area that still carried Dick Tracy. I’d love to see him in print. It’d be so much better than on the screen.

The way things are moving in this strip, I’m wondering which of the Rogues’ Gallery will get the Lazarus effect next. And yes, I will read it. And yes, I will love it!

@VistaBill: I’ve been away from my computer for a week. And look at what took place during that time: you starred in a movie and it was mentioned in DT! This team keeps surprising me each day. I don’t know if there has ever been such communication with the readers that the artists would be willing to talk to them and even include them in the strip. Of course, the new social networks have opened new ways to communicate, but this team is putting this to such positive use that it makes us all want to cheer them on. Congratulations VistaBill for the recognition and thanks DT team for knowing how to include your fans in your work! You have made DT exciting again!

I just went to my Dick Tracy collection and found the story alluded to in panel 1. The current depiction of Itchy Oliver is “spot-on” – however, if the hot babe in the silhouette is supposed to be Kitty, she sure didn’t look like that during the time she was conspiring with Itchy. She was shown to be a woman past middle age, with a “frumpy” hair style and wearing an old housecoat. Unless, perhaps, she made an earlier appearance I don’t know about? Anyone know??
