OK… three questions… in panel 3, is that the Sun? Is that a camera below the Sun? Does Tracy’s wrist thing have some sort of gps so he can be quickly found?

Good mornin,’ Vista Bill and everyone else!

Abner Kadaver – a hit man! Sure didn’t see that one coming! He’s got to be the most unusual contract killer in comics since Flattop. And what a cover – a sideshow ghoul who doesn’t dispose of his victims, but puts them on display!

@TarryThanks for posting the link a few days ago – now I can read Tracy in glorious Black & White as well as colorized!

Leapin’ lizards! We know Kadaver can create mummies. What if he decides to create an army of zombies!

Just think… two years ago, Tracy had wrapped up the circus caper and was embarking on the concert adventure. Time sure flies! Flooom!

I am completely loving this story. Wonder what happened to Vera? Did Kadaver bump him off? Or will he rescue Tracy? That would be an interesting way to redeem his character.

Also, any ideas on who hired Kadaver??

The way Abner waxes philosophical makes me think of Lionel Atwill gloating over Fay Wray in “The Mystery of the Wax Museum.”

Abner’s a total creep but very nice of him to give some explanation for his actions.

I’m betting that Kadaver was hired by Mr. Crime to kill Tracy. Anyoneone have other guesses?

I agree this Kadaver indeed took care of everything ,but the best is yet to come to solve this crime.

He couldn’t have been hired by the real Dick Tracy fans from the 1950’s?

    @ falcon_370f:

Timing in a daily newspaper comic strip is particularly difficult. This story actually STARTED right around Halloween, but 3 panels a day is naturally going to run any story worth anything into another season. That’s just the way it is. During Chester Gould’s run on the strip, this often happened. Tracy got married on Christmas Eve, and went on a honeymoon which turned into a story that lasted until early Spring, even though the events IN the story obviously did not take that long. That’s part of the charm of a daily story strip.

That’s true but in early October they were in the middle of the big 80th anniversary story and I think the timing of that one was much more significant than this one.

If Kadaver is willing to confess to murder to a presumably about-to-die Tracy, why is he not willing to tell Tracy who is footing the bill?
