Hoooo boy, here we go. Boy meets girl, boy is attracted to girl, girl still trying to figure out what to do about this one. A “delicate” situation to say the least. Also, I believe I’d feel pretty safe with Blaze as a bodyguard.

Mr. Crime, afraid to enter his own headquarters . . . and all the hoods must expect someone who looks properly villainous . . . this could be the funniest DT adventure ever. I wonder what sort of drama this humor will counterpoint?

Blaze would be a great bodyguard. But will she really want to protect Davey?

    Good morning, VB!

Good morning all!Look at Blaze’s expression in the second panel. She looks terrified, and with reason. Dvey may be Mr Cime but he’s a complete jerk. “Keep me safe”,indeed!

I don’t know what Blaze is going to do but I’m guessing she’ll bring him there because it’s too good a comic strip situation not to.

Wow! Poor, cold-hearted Blaze Rize! In complete shock at Davey’s revelations—both about being Mr. Crime and about “liking” her! She certainly could protect Mylar, if she wanted to; but does she want to? Or will she see her more beneficial loyalty as being to Panda directly? —This should be fun, one way or another!

Subtle move ! Yet - a mind boggling moment . . .Caught off-guard, by a flattering invitation, really an indirect promotion to a higher level in the Group. The " posibilites " will flash quickly through her mind ! -“Money” – - “Power” – - eventual “Take-over”? !* And (*her** protection**?) *-* disarming *!* A winning play to vanity and her professional conceit.Davey’s likely won the moment. But the future ?It’s BRILLIANT writing by *Curtis** and believably crafted by Staton !

Comic book & vinyl record collectors, horror movie hosts, professional wrestling…This strip has certainly gotten a lot nerdier (in a 13 year old boy way) over the past year. Not too keen at all w/ the big reveal either.

Davey still seems very sweet and honest. He’s taken a huge risk with her but I don’t think he’s naive enough to do so without some sort of protection. He knows that she’s a killer. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I like you -— fill in the blank. Has destroyed many a good man. Too much info all at once but Davey is in control. Was the blowing-up of the band DM’s call? If so we know that he’s a ruthless killer. Who owns Panda? Who dies next?

Call it what you will. But this is a far cry better than the kindergarden stuff Dick Locher crammed down our throats for years. I couldn’t handle seeing Tracy turn into a weak coward who spent more time running and hiding than he did smashing the bad guys. And who could forget the Dr. Mordred caper, and the fifty panels of the Haunted House? No…… if Mike & Joe want to bring in a nerd who has the hots for Blaze, why not? Most of their women are hotter’n blazes anyway!

Wow—I remember the demolished building and strongbox from several months ago! It was unrelated to anything going on in the story. Very interesting!

today, mainly because its 9:05am eastern time and i just got around to checking todqys strip, lol. thats ok i dont mind.. i started my monday off in a GOOD way (my whole week actually).. won $102.00 on the radio this morning, and now i’m STILL in “dick tracy’s top twenty”.. pretty respectable lol! anyway, i dont think davey completely understands whats going on… he seems to be treating it sort of like a “dungeons and drgons” game where he thinks he is just “moving pieces” here and there. does he KNOW that panda killed mumbles’ band? does he KNOW about the muerte vines? does he have ANY sort of contact with the mushroom lady? i think davey might be in over his head, and i think that blaze may just end up switching sides sooner or later. oh and one more thing.. WHERE’S LITTLE FACE AND KASSIE?!?! its been over a week now hasnt it?

Now wait just a minute. Davey was just a likeable kid with an interest in comic books, whose mother was overwhelmed by medical bills and a mortgage, UNTIL he found the old record book with all the info about Mr. Crime. Then he used his internet knowledge to set up the current operation. O.K. I can see that. But, where did the headquarters building come from? When Panda got out of prison, and the henchman recruited him, they apparently went right to their current lair, complete with the muerte vine and the pool with a barracuda swimming in it. How did Davey accomplish all that? How would he even know about the fish and the vine, unless maybe that was spelled out in the records he read from the old building. Where did he find the “mushroom lady” after all these years? I think there must be more to this than Davey is telling -or someone else is actually behind Davey, maybe?

I think that Blaze will accept Davey’s offer. She is very intelligent and ambitious, totally ruthless and this scenario has some very interesting possibilities for her (once the initial shock wears off, of course). She could very well see herself becoming the power behind the throne, taking Mr. Crime’s syndicate to new heights (or depths, depending on your point of view), especially if Davey’s infatuation with her turns out to be genuine (it is still quite possible that Davey’s innocent act is just that – and a deadly trap). Mike and his team have us all on the edge of our seats, and it appears that they’re going to build even more suspense for us…I love it!!!

Wowza! Is he is or is he ain’t actually Mr. Crime – or just an immature liitle man with just enough info to be dangerous and trying to impress Red?

It certainly SEEMS he is the big guy.

Masterful story telling, in my opinion.

PS – amen Brother Morrow, amen.PPS – “Nerd” is offensive?

Some people think a geek and a nerd are the same thing but I’ve always seen them as very different. I don’t mind being called a geek but a nerd feels insulting.

Captain Kiddo, as comparison…I’m reading Spec Missing Years #1-#6 right now (‘64 into ’65, right @ start of Space Coupe era). There’s a storyline in there involving satirical SAWDUST which is obviously a very Gould “what you know” writing angle re. cartoonist & his staff. But it’s still a good mystery w/ police procedural…& some pretty edgy stuff for a daily comic strip ie. elderly man trying to shoot himself in the head.

Replace my wordage then— “cutsier” for “nerdier”. I’m seeing an abundance of wink wink fanboy play in the strip & it’s detracting. DT is supposed to be a little more hard-boiled than this.

That being said— strip has gone leaps & bounds in quality this past year. It’s just that Mr. Crime is such a cool concept & here he is…an implausability essentially monickered after comic book plastic wrap.
