Mornin’ all!Doesn’t look like a movie was being made, unless you count the security cameras.Could it be a real life role-playing game?Have to toon in tomorrow!
To 60’sFan:“Good Morning VB, Nightshade, and all”? Since I was the only other one posting, it kinda makes me feel like "the Professor & Mary Ann " from the 1st season of “Gilligans Island” when they weren’t mentioned in the theme song!
“Nothing was taken”; true, but, the fishwoman DID have the clerk fill a bag with jewelry, the question is, would she have taken it, had she not bolted, when Mr Steelpants showed up?
Through the Wizard of the wrist Sam tells Tracy this:there was a robbery but nothing was stolen. In his green suit and hat, Sam’s a stylin’ cat:Sharp dressed is how he’s rollin’.Tracy must see the security tapesto surmise what has gone down.Yet with no real clues and a costumed ruse, the detective wears a frown.Who can it be, what’s the identity,of this fishy “Super villain"?No need to guess, I’ll simply undress, the Piranha and then we’ll be chillin’.
As I noted several days ago, there are in real life/real cities caped and masked “crusaders” attempting to stop crime from occuring. The masked villain is a twist on the story though.Clever work, Mike and Joe,
I am not comfortable mixing Tracy the cop with wierdos in leotards in full costume. I know there is a fine line between them (the story with Tracy and Dr. Mordred), but keeping Tracy and Sam on baddies is enough for me. Let the superheroes and Transformers stick with Saturday morning TV.
I agree with Willy007. The super heroes are not really super-powered heroes or even heroes. They are super hero wannabes who dress up and play their role-playing game in public. Normally this might be considered harmless. However, in this situation, it has become an attempted robbery, threatening with a deadly weapon (speargun), disturbing the peace, etc.As has been stated, it is similar to real-life events in Seattle.I believe that we will discover that none of these “super” characters have any powers at all and they are regular people who have let their game go too far or are being manipulated by others who are taking advantage of their role playing game.
My personal belief is that the following movie was the major instigator:Kick Ass Movie TrailerSeattle is home the largest anime con in the North West Coast, Sakura-Con. I happen to know that many cosplayers like to dress as the characters from this movie, as well as characters from The Dark Knight and numerous other movies, anime series, and video games.Seattle is also the home of the Emerald City ComiCon, an event I am seriously thinking about attending this year.
Personally, I have no interest in him at all. I just wondered why someone would make such a bold statement one day, and then do a complete 180 the next?^^Ok gotcha! it’s all good
Hey, everyone! It’s “Simple Survey Time!”1) How many of you love Moon Maid?2) How many hate the Black Piranha and Cinnamon Knight?3) How many of you hate super-powered characters?4) Of the three named above, which one has super-powers?Uh-huh. Just like I thought.Super-powers are okay if the person with them is an alien hottie. (You are sooo predictible.)
Thanks 60s fan, Tommygunner, Gweedo and Mikeyj. Nice work with the Moon Maid pic, Mikeyj! I’ve never read Luann (until just now), so that is not me. Cheers.
The Sunday strip isn’t coming up, for some reason. It’s 8 AM Eastern Standard Time here in Boston. This is a mystery that even the Tracy crew can’t solve—since they’re not here to solve it.
Still no DT Sunday strip at 1:00 EST. I have read it from other sources but would have liked to read the chat concerning these interesting developments.
As far as today’s strip —Ohhh boy – I see this game going south really fast. All it’ll take is a real bad guy mistaking Pirhana and CK for what they’e pretending to be…Really enjoying this story!
Who besides me rmembers that this is NOT the first reference to “cosplay” in by Mike and Joe? Go back to the 8/26/12 Sunday strip and you will find Honeymoon and her friend Astro enjoying some as “cosplay” as Tracy.
Thanks to this board, we get to see what GoComics leaves off from time to time. Thanks Majestyk and Tarry, etc. As for the costumers, they might be dangerous. Officers who may be on the scene don’t know if it’s real or not. An off duty officer may be armed, accidents happen, and you have a tragedy on your hands. I don’t know if it’s a crime or not, having someone set off a silent alarm that must be answered. Still, crime is something that shouldn’t be played with.

Still has to be a movie being filmed as so many have suggested!

Gotham Central= gold standard for this type of everyman, in-the-trenches tale. If all is indeed what it seems.
Sisyphos about 12 years ago
Hmm. This becomes more puzzling. If not a movie, maybe a costumed scavenger hunt (see UChicago for details)?

Thanks Willy and Ray. I never thought of it in the Seattle perspective. Saturday morning TV has actually come to bare without the Kryptonite.

Having established that a costume hero exists in another city, this comes to a surprise to Sam and Dick?
(I’m guessing the “Batman” eluded to recently is in fact the 1943-1946 comic strip version, and not any other – fits better.)
