It’s all downhill for the Nitrate siblings, now!

A black eye already? Of course, I think this may be the first time we’ve seen Sprocket’s eyes. Nevertheless, she is NOT happy!

Like I said, “Thelma and Louise” fan.

That bruise answers the question of who struck whom yesterday. With that lake ahead, I have to wonder – will she see it, and drive in? Did Silver kit the car out with floatation gear?Looks like I was right in one thing – this is going to end fast and messy.-——————————————And yes, cpalmeresq – this is the first time we’ve seen Sprocket’s eyes (they were covered by her hair when she showered). Nice dramatic touch, only showing them when she’s hurt and angry.

Betrayed by her brother she wants revenge on him…my guess is she wants to kill him…and save herself!

Look at Sproket’s eye! She is not happy! Unless Flattops car can turn into a submarine, its a watery grave for the Nitrates!

SN is ticked off and has an attitude by the looks of that sourpuss expression and no miss cool shades. they’re done put a fork in them.

Yep, I think she’s going to drive the car straight into the lake, I doubt that the car can “swim” but I wonder if either of the two siblings are able to swim. It does look like it is a black eye and her glasses have been knocked off.

Otherwise, if Sprocket had been the one doing the slapping, Silver could be slumped over unconscious in the seat beside her. That would not make for a good outcome if the car sank deep under the water. I’m sure Sprocket is in no mood to save her brother from drowning.

Maybe a Swamp-Thing crossover next.

One of them will die trying to save Lena. Which one is any bodies guess.

Considering that Silver fixed up the car with machine guns in the horns I see no reason that he couldn’t have added swim fins in the same upgrade.

A lake eh? Interesting…..especially considering Flattop found a watery grave. Maybe his car is trying to reach out to claim the Nitrates on his behalf….?

Contrary to what I originally thought, it seems clear now that the “SMACK!” from yesterday was Silver punching Sprocket. Net result: she’s injured, angry, and headed straight for a freezing cold lake. Don’t think this is going to end well for brother and sis….

Frozen lake and the car turns into a giant sled with more gadgets.

Smacking someone while they’re driving is never a good idea, especially at high speeds while going through fields and being chased by the police.

I remember being advised: “Never eat yellow snow.” But what about green snow?Sorry, folks, I couldn’t help it.)This story has been a good one for sure. Another Gouldian element – a somewhat comical criminal sidekick who suddenly turns vicious. Blowtop’s pal Joe did that. He was somewhat comical, putting up with Blowtop’s antics, being forced to eat doped meat in an experiment to put a dog to sleep, etc. But then he shot Blowtop, and from then on, even the way his facial expressions were drawn conveyed the idea of a hardened criminal. on the run. I think I see that now in Sprocket.

I wonder if there is an abandoned ramp and she will do the “Swan Approach”, a much more difficult dive as compared to the “Power Approach”, and thus win the judges’ hearts and votes.

We’ve seen Sprocket’s anger toward Silver come out in the past few strips. At this point, I don’t think Sprocket is above offing her sibling.

swimming in a very cold/frozen lake should never be an option. Even if water temps are higher than air temps the body goes hypothermic faster in water.

Anything can happen now…

It does seem that Silver blackened Sprocket’s eye with yesterday’s “SMACK!” And if NightShade09 is correct in the surmise that Silver swims no better than he drives, maybe we can envision Sprocket gunning the car to the icy lake, bailing at the last moment, and leaving Silver and Lena to the freezing waters—or, maybe a frenzied Lena having at Silver as they sink, to make it an extra-gruesome fate for the killer-grifter.

Ok, I give up! Where is SDM/avenger09/Mattie? The Street & Bridge Department must have evicted him. Moving is a terrible thing when it isn’t your idea.

I don’t approve of the green snow — I’m almost certain that it should be white. The lake is probably frozen over, too. I guess we’ll find out for sure if and when they land in it. Even if it’s not frozen, I kind of don’t think that clear blue colour is the right thing on a snowy day.

I didn’t know the Batmobile was equiped with hydrofoils, but, considering how many Batmobiles there have been, I’m not surprised.By The Way – the Batplane introduced in 1950 – which was the iconic design with the pointed nose and bat-scalloped wings – originally could retract it’s wings and transform into a submarine!It also could raise a giant propeller from the center of the fusalage, and fly like a helicopter.Not surprisingly, these gimmicks didn’t appear often.

I’ll be quite surprised if the car turns out to be amphibious. I don’t think Silver thought about something like that. I have a feeling that the chase will end, one way or another, this weekend. If it does, I think that this story has had a better paced ending than some other recent stories, even if chases are not really Mike’s natural writing style.

Obviously that “Smack” we saw at the end yesterday was Silver hitting his sister thus blackening her eye and making her shades crooked. I guess the reason why the writers didn’t actually show her being hit is because they didn’t want to promote violence against women which is very prevalent today. But remember the classic fight that Dick Tracy himself had with that fat old lady, Momma Trohs? Tracy had his arm in a sling while fighting her and messed her up pretty bad. That fight took place back in the late 40’s. I guess Chester Gould had no problem doing that!

He has apologized that it’s only a short chase, so I guess he might try a longer one later. I think this one was good, though, at least so far.
