Can some one tell me, would Americans in the 1940s talk about the “Radio”? The British at that time would have always said the “Wireless”. Notwithstanding the BBC’s schedule magazine was called “Radio Times”, even my grandparents would always say the wireless.
On July 19 Annie told Tracy that the meeting will be at the Jot ’Em Down Store. On the the 20th, they go into the store but there are no Commandos present. Now they are in the Commandos clubhouse and still no other Commandos are present. I infer from this two things. First, the meeting was a ruse. Annie does not expect the other Commandos to show up. Second, the clubhouse is probably behind the Jot ’Em Down Store, maybe in the alley or in the back yard.
Well, on the basis of the EVIDENCE you present -this looks more like the case of the Missing Commanders rather than, the case of the Missing Orphan Annie ? ;- )
Great story turn - though - the one that needs to be rescued is the one organizing a rescue !
i think someone needs to stick with one outfit for tracy…first he’s wearing his detective tracy duds, then the officer tracy monkeysuuit, and now back to the detective duds… its enough to confuse someone :)
Loose lips sink ships….Where have we heard that before in this arc and what is its meaning in this context? Although it was a popular slogan during WWII, the fact that it has now appeared several times in this arc is obviously important. There were many common slogans during WWII. What is the significance of the reappearance of this particular one?
Apparently something about my earlier post set off some unintentional alarms at the Batcave. My efforts to find out what No No I did have thus far fallen on deaf ears. I suppose I shouldn’t push too much and be grateful that I haven’t been sent to Arkham!
Good afternoon all! Hey VB – If you’re feeling up to a ride up I-95 your old friends Mike and Joe are scheduled to appear at the Baltimore Comic Con September 5 -7.
Cool…..Annie joins the list of “those who have stepped in and rescued formerly competent cop Dick Tracy”, lol. (I’m saying this lightheartedly, so don’t need a rush of replies to defend him……)
It’s so good to see Annie back in action in a new story, even if its the 1940 version. And she’s as sharp as ever. I can hope that this story arch may get the Annie strip going again with new stories.
