So, Mr. Mel. O. Dee is playing Mortimer! Up until now, I didn’t even suspect he was an actor in this play. As the drama critic who is possibly the only sane member of the family, it would be a shame to see him knocked off during the performance.

“According to the opening night review in The New York Times, the play was ‘so funny that none of us will ever forget it,’” says Wikipedia. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy are sure enjoying themselves and this strip has excellent drawings of both of them. Hopefully, our friend Sydney can tolerate more head shots because it’s truly great artwork, in my opinion.

The art is always good, but today is exceptionally good! It’s no wonder why it won the Harvey Award. Poor Otis should have minded his own business.

Morning, Tracyville!Otis’ body is probably in the window seat and when the actor discovers it, the rest of the cast will think he’s just acting.

I find myself wishing I’d ever seen “Arsenic and Old Lace” so I’d know what the joke was in the third panel. Ah well, at least they’re enjoying it.

For a Detective, ‘Happiness’ is a Rare moment - when you get a Ticket . . .You don’t have to pay a Fine and more happily, by the end of the Show, you realize it’s actually a FIND !Mixing Business IN with Pleasure . . . It doesn’t often come Better than that !

    The Dr. Magpie ChroniclesPrevious chapters can be found on these dates;6/25, 6/27, 6/30, 7/8, 7/11, 7/22, 8/1, 8/14, 9/19, 9/26 and 11/7

.Chapter 12“Ok Warbucks, I’ll check it out & get back to you if I find out anything”. Tracy disconnected the call and put his cell phone in his jacket pocket. He wasn’t very happy with what he just heard from Warbucks. “Everything points to sabotage”! Tracy muttered under his breath as he walked towards the office Dr. Magpie assigned him to. He was glad he was hired to be head of Magpie’s security while the group was in town. “”Eight week run, not a bad gig. Get to earn a little pocket change on the side. Hopefully Warbucks lets me keep it”! He smiled at his little joke before getting serious again once he sat behind his makeshift desk, which was no more than a piece of plywood held up with some milk cartons. Tracy recapped everything he’d just heard. Seems like two persons of interest both worked on the preparing of Red Raven right before she exploded and were part of the ground crew that prepared the Warbucks plane he almost lost his life on. He shook his head recalling how Warbucks informed him that after one of the two was located near Warbucks headquarters and brought in for questioning they were barely able to escort him to a private room for interrogation before something Tracy never heard of happened. “His head exploded”! Was how Warbucks explained it. “Ye Gads, Ghastly stuff”. Tracy recalled was all he could muster. “Tracy, it’s unquestionably the handy work of the Blue circle. Be very careful”! Tracy had never heard of this ‘Blue Circle” organization but based on Warbucks warning he knew it couldn’t hurt to watch his back..Meanwhile;.Annie didn’t regret for one second taking the bus to Dr. Magpie’s showplace rather than calling a cab. “No sense tempting fate, no telling how many cabbies are looking for me”! Annie knew that however slim the possibility was that she would ride in a cab with a driver who wanted to kill her she wouldn’t be able to count on someone like Dick Tracy to save her again. “It’s a shame I had to cut out on him like that but this is something best done alone”. She thought as she got off the bus at the stop closest to the tent. She appreciated what he did and all but was afraid he’d just get in the way. “Let’s face it;” she chuckled to herself, “He is on the “old “side”! Walking up to the entrance she was glad to see about a dozen or so people lined up for the temporary jobs the traveling show offered. “Must be the bad economy”. She sadly shook her head while grateful she wasn’t the only one on line. “I’ll just be one of many, blending in while figuring out what’s going on in this place. Taking her place at the end of the line she was immediately confronted by the young man standing in front of her who turned around to greet her with a huge smile. “Hi, are you here for a job also”? He eagerly asked her. “Yes I am”, Annie responded while trying to ignore him. What she really wanted to say was, “well duh, why else would I be standing on this line”? She quickly realized he wouldn’t take the hint as he continued to talk to her. “Hey so am I. We have a lot in common. I’ve been out of work for longer than I can remember”. “Well I just lost my job”, Annie answered, hoping he would leave her alone. “I’m positive it’ll be only a short term setback”. Annie sighed when she saw he was not going to stop talking to her. “Oh, I used to think like that also. It’s been years since I’ve worked”. “I always try to look at life in a positive light”! “Just when you think things are at their darkest and can’t get any worse something good happens”!Annie had had enough.“Listen buster, who are you and why are you bothering me”? She quickly wished she hadn’t yelled at him once she saw everyone else turn and look at them.“Sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you. I should have introduced myself right away.” “It was very rude of me not to.” “Since the day they adopted me my parents taught me better than that and to always respect the feelings of others”.

It’s good to see Tracy laughing: such a rarity! But soon the laughter will have to give way to the more customary cop-seriousness. Murder will out!Gruesome’s plastic surgery will hide his identity only for a while….Vitamin looks good as Teddy; so far, Miss Kandikane (as he calls her) has been nothing but good for him, I must admit despite my doubts….

I’m surprised to see Mel in the play’s lead. Less confusing for the readers than introducing another character just for that role, I guess.Too bad we couldn’t see Teddy charging up the stairs!

nightshade, everyone knows vitamin is a ham, so they COULD have been laughing at his “overacting”.

and nightshade, thanks for being so consistent.. i can ALWAYS count on you for snarky comments when i am asking a legit question

and just because someone thinks i should see the film/play/whatever, doesnt mean i will.. what YOU like and what i like may not always be the same thing

This video is a selection of clips from Arsenic and Old Lace showing many of Cary Grants best moments. One of the clips is a major SPOILER, so I wanted to make sure you were notified before watching. Enjoy!
