Where, indeed, is Gruesome? After the description of a figure standing in the doorway, I figured that he had fled away from the windmill, but that seems not to be the case. Perhaps he climbed to the top part of the windmill, as Frankenstein’s monster did in the 1931 film.
Here we have an actual arrest. I think it’s been awhile in the strip since we’ve witnessed one. I love the reference to the words attributed to Henry Stanley, “Dr. Livingstone, I presume.” Sam obviously knew what Einstein looked like, just as Lizz did, so it was a bit of a joke since the identity of Einstein was obvious, just as the identity of Livingstone was to Stanley, there being no other white person around for hundreds of miles, in that part of Africa.
Bully! Good for Sam. He is redeeming himself after his disastrous backstage encounter with the missing Gruesome. —It seemed yesterday as though Gruesome had fled the windmill before Einstein did. Maybe he doubled back? Or climbed the exterior (which would be a foolish thing to do, but this is Gruesome we’re dealing with here)?Fire baddd!
Good morning everyone. This is definitely a hot case. It does appear that the clown is on fire. If Gruesome is in the clown he is getting a big hotfoot. Have a great day y’all.
gleeb, abner faked his heart attack death and escaped BEFORE the autopsy was performed. I believe they had said that on panel at the time. In fact, I seem to recall Rikki collecting the “corpse” from the prison morgue
If there is no body, don’t count ’em dead just yet.
People seem to be assuming a missing body, but there is no evidence so far of any death. Gruesome may have run away from the fire for all we know so far, so it’s obviously too soon to “count ’em dead.” Only a few strips ago, Gruesome was planning to write to Sara Karloff from jail if he could, so maybe that was foreshadowing that he’s about to end up back in custody. On the other hand, “Gruesome’s gone crazy!,” as Einstein said, so anything could happen. I think we’ll get some kind of answers Sunday.
Oh, I could see Sail and Ghote returning after being rescued by Moon Maids departed citizens…or by having figured out how to turn the coupe around. But since I doubt they’ve also figured out how to make themselves more interesting than most past and future villians, I’d say they should plan on visiting scenic Pluto instead….
I’m shocked that no one noticed that the Dr. Livingstone reference Sam drops here is YET ANOTHER reference to Arsenic and Old Lace:
Mortimer Brewster: “Mr. President, may I have the pleasure of presenting…”Teddy Brewster: “Doctor Livingston?”Dr. Gilchrist: “Livingstone?”Mortimer Brewster: “Uh, well, that’s what he presumes.”

WOW….that’s some cannon Sam’s packing. Maybe he needed a bigger gun after his first run in with Gruesome.

If Gruesome’s in the clown, he’s getting pretty warm.

Gruesome had best give up if Sam finds him or he may find himself with a hole in one!

What in blazes? The wicked winter wind wails, spreading the flames about. Is this the end of Goofy Golf? Good work, Sam.

Morning, Tracyville!I can only suppose that Tracy is investigating the windmill. Tomorrow we should see whatever he discovers there.

The “Rip Haywire Law” is now in effect. If Gruesome’s body isn’t recovered, he didn’t die. He’ll be back….
