So, tomorrow will be the start of Midnite Mirror and if I remember right, Mike said it’s not like anything you ever seen before in this strip. It should be interesting.

No matter what happens, or how grown she gets, Honeymoon will always be her Daddy’s Girl.

This is a great finale for a great story.Joe’s art is excellent, and there’s no need for dialogue.-And another interesting Hall of Fame entry, too. I’ve got to look up those books.-Have a great day, all!

A worried father is so very pleased to have his daughter home safe and sound. Knowing all too well the horror of losing his beloved to violence, Junior has been quietly frantic. Hard not to imagine the worst. Not every child is able to return home at the close of the day. The human element, beyond the great action, adds depth to the characters, story and world of Dick Tracy. Fritz Ann and Sam, Annie and Punjab, Mysta and Honeymoon, Tracy and Honeymoon, and, finally, Honeymoon and Junior: none are alone or self-sufficient. A very satisfying close to “The Fall of the Blackhearts.”

Thanks to cpalmeresq, Gweedo, Night-Gaunt49, Neil Wick, Vista Bill Raley, unclescrooge, Willy007, Jonathan K. and Chris Sherlock for the kind words. Very much appreciated!

Reasonable people can disagree about the importance of the precise manner by which the gold stolen by Shooz was dug up and transported to Ace Tower. Is it a fairly unimportant off-panel pivot from the “Robbing the Rails” story to “The Fall of the Backhearts”? Is it a glaring omission, an unwelcome fly in an otherwise superior ointment? What if it is neither? What if we are being strategically left in the dark, so as to ensure that a bombshell exists, a bombshell to be dropped when we least expect it?What if this bombshell is named Purdy Fallar?Just because we never saw a conversation between BB-Eyes and Bribery in which they discussed robbing Jimmy, does not mean it did not occur. We know that BB was suspicious of Jimmy. We know he offered the help of a Blackheart “specialist,” should Jimmy need one. We know Bribery remarked on June 29th that “We four are the only ones who know that the ‘Billion Dollar Limited’ gold is in Blackheart possession.” What if Purdy is the “specialist” who aided and betrayed Jimmy Choo Shooz? Purdy’s sister, Notta, works for Bribery. She receives packages and is paid handsomely. That we have not seen evidence of Purdy’s recovery does not mean he has not recovered. We know Notta has a story coming up sometime next year. Purdy in a persistent vegetative state is of limited interest. Purdy finally succumbing to his poor health is a waste of a potentially stunning development. Purdy secretly recovered and again involved in nefarious doings is a bombshell. My theory could be so much nonsense. If so, I’ll have my crow served up in a savory Étouffée. Yet I believe it is possible that a Purdy Fallar bombshell could be the reason for ignoring, for now, the particulars of the betrayal of Jimmy Choo Shooz.

Thanks to Ray Toler and HAL69 for the generous feedback. Much appreciated!

Gweedo! I am good with the wrap-up. It took a while to tell, but the story did, too! I want to add my two cents to a subject a few days back that sticks in my mind and I didn’t get much of a chance to comment. That’s Facebook. I never joined it, and I encouraged my wife no to, either. My 45 yr-old daughter lived her life on Facebook. She has an 8 yr old daughter which she paraded all over the social media site. They took scheduled vacations every year at the same time and this time when she had returned, she returned to a ransacked house. There were also photos copied off the internet, enlarged, and of her daughter left in the little girl’s room. You have no concept of the number of perverts who troll Facebook who “fall in love” with your kids that you posted for them to drool over. Also, the police will tell you there is a connection with burglaries and Facebook. Aside from the marketing bonanza Zuck. created for himself, I see nothing beneficial about putting one’s private life out on the street. Nuff said.

Stupid. This strip now is just plain stupid.

It all started when Chester Gould didn’t recognize it when he wouldn’t let go of his Moon escapades nonsense and newspapers started dropping the strip left and right. Strip would have died completely if the computer hadn’t come along. Now I wonder if there is any editorial control at all.

    Definitely needs some.

Gweedo, she is a CEO of a nice-sized company in a large Texas city and an idiot can connect the dots. Her full name, company name, and my granddaughter’s name is all over her Facebook. Not smart. I think I’ll get her to say the little girl has come to live with me and give the address. I’ve got video all over my house and a new Kimber that needs breaking in.

No, I’m not a hardliner complainer. I’m a long-time big fan of Dick Tracy. Ever since I was a kid. I love the adventures of the top Good Guy vs the Bad Guys…the colorful characters, both sides of the law…enjoying the innovations introduced by Brilliant backed by Diet Smith and then others….the two-way wrist radio, the miniature surveillance camera…….the ring camera….the growing list goes on and on….all logical innovations and inventions in the crime fighting arsenal.

I’m just bothered by illogical side tracts into childish fantasy.

    That is all.

I just wonder if all the gold was found.

According to what The Chief said, it sound like it was. We can imagine all sorts of scenarios where some of the gold is still in play, but the story doesn’t seem to have lead in those directions.

I’m thinking that there will be one more Mr. Bribery story and it is probably coming up in 2016. That’s only my opinion. In any case, I don’t think the gold from the train is needed to drive the plot. Mr. Bribery’s supposition that there are vast reserves of gold on the Moon that he can mine is enough to drive the story forward whenever he returns.

This story and the return of the Nitrates were the best in the last three years, in my opinion. I’m not saying that they were flawless, but I enjoyed them the most.

“I just wonder if all the gold was found.”Not only did the Chief imply that the gold was found, as Neil mentioned, but Bribery said on August 5 that “the booty from the billion dollar limited” was in the building, awaiting to be taken away that evening. Unfortunately for Bribery, Lee must have immediately called it in, and the FBI and police arrived that same day to raid the building. Evening never came, so the gold never left.
