"The town and the falls are known worldwide as the setting for a fictional event: it is the location where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s hero, Sherlock Holmes, fights to the death with Professor Moriarty, at the end of “The Final Problem”, first published in 1893. A memorial plate at the funicular station commemorates Holmes and there is also a Sherlock Holmes museum in the nearby town of Meiringen." From the story: “It is, indeed, a fearful place. The torrent, swollen by the melting snow, plunges into a tremendous abyss, from which the spray rolls up like the smoke from a burning house.” You can read the whole story where Doyle killed off his hero, Sherlock Holmes in a struggle with Moriarty, here: https://sherlock-holm.es/stories/pdf/a4/1-sided/fina.pdf

Town is supposedly the birthplace of Meringue. Also per “Naked is the Best Disguise” – there’s a Frankenstein link as well. The path Victor follows begins in Switzerland …
2nd panel error.. tess’ word balloon should be, I believe, “credited” to tracy because in panel 3 TESS says “calm down dear” which doesn’t make sense since in panel 2 it seems to be HER who is so excited about the falls
I can possibly see Abner taking a trip down the falls during a confrontation with our friend Tracy and Tracy ending up with Abner’s mask in his hands as the body falls into the chasm.
Which is a crying shame since Kadaver is by far and away my favorite “new Tracy villain” and SECOND only to the late great MEASLES as my favorite villain overall
(yes, they did bump Mumbles out of the top spot.. so #1 Measles, 2 Abner 3 Mumbles 4 Torcher 5 Haf and Haf)
If Tracy was killed off here would still be two Dick Tracys in the strip – Dick Tracy Jr. (who we usually refer to just as Junior) and his baby son Dick Tracy III. Sound like Dick is toast j/k!!
Gweedo pleaded,I will ask Bill to ready up Two memorial services.-——————————————————————.Gweedo, gotcha! I added a third candle in the event you discover anyone else..

The thing that fascinated me as a kid about Snuffy Smith was the backwoods, mountain scenery the artist would put into it. There was one Sunday in particular where the whole strip was devoted to how the characters had to travel over cliffs and mountains and valleys if they wanted to get to town.I notice that the current artist puts in a few jagged cliff ledges among the trees once in a while. If I recall, the were very evident during the Tracy crossover a couple of years ago.
As just about every commenter here is suggesting, a confrontation between Dick Tracy (as if Sherlock Holmes) and Abner Kadaver (as if Dr Moriarty) at Reichenbach Falls would be ace! But I’d be distressed to see either one killed off or even mistakenly thought to have been killed off. Are there further mystique-laden “famous detective” sites on Tracy’s itinerary through Europe aboard the Orient Express? I am assuming Tess and Dick have the kind of ticket that allows short interruptions and then resumption of the full trip, London to Istanbul….

The art looks a little off today, particularly in panel three.
Wonder if Joe had an uncredited assistant.

Reichenbach Falls? That’s not foreshadowing at all, not at all.

Does this mean we’re going to lose Tracy ?!
Well, you know, Barney Google has rarely ever been seen in his own strip for 60 years, so you can’t always go by the title of the strip.blunebottle over 8 years ago
Reichenbach Falls may be there tomorrow, but will our hero?

John Rose has been putting him in a little more frequently in recent years, and he has been well-received.
Yes, I admit that it’s true. He has been seen more recently, but reportedly he went 15 years at one point without appearing at all.Steven Wright over 8 years ago

Check-in looks more like a booking sergeant’s desk than a hotel. Force of habit, I guess.

Sadly, the news came out yesterday (Thursday) that Houdini & Doyle was cancelled by Fox, which is sad because I enjoyed the show.
