The gravestone says “Siegel.” AnyFace randomly said some days ago that Big Margie’s surname, “Legase,” could almost be rearranged to spell “Siegel.” Looking at today’s strip, it just occurred to me that Siegel spelled backwards would be Legeis which I think is likely exactly the pronunciation of Legase. Gould would do something like that.
I believe that Siegel is a common Jewish name. There have been stories in the news lately about vandalism at Jewish sites. Gould would definitely do a current news topic like this if he were doing the strip now.
Ok, what’s wrong with that person? They were kinda likable. I mean robbing to pay off debt/back rent is awful, but somewhat understandable…But this is plain rotten!….I still like Little Margie tho :< (….and the surname of one of my classmates in elementary school was ‘Siegel’, yieks 0o0!)
Let’s see whether the next grave they dig up is labeled “Kirby”.
Since Jerry Siegel is the co-creator of Superman, it could be that the next stone to get it might be that of (Joe) Shuster. Or, it may have been the one we see already toppled.

Re: " . . . rather be on the street than in jail."
I’ve never been in jail but I have been on the street (8th grade with my very sick mother). Gadsden, Alabama was not a friendly place at all back in the mid-70’s. Hint: the awful neighbors were named “Savage” before we were kicked out of our trailer. And they acted it, too.
I’m sitting here trying to think if I’d rather be homeless and female with all my aches and pains or be in jail, still female and still in pain.
Still thinking. I’ll have to sleep on it.
NYB, sorry to hear you had such difficultly growing up. I don’t know if Alabama has homeless shelters but we have them in NYC. Granted, they’re not the greatest places to be but they’re safer then the streets. I think the point I was trying to make, freedom for me is worth more than $7,000 was lost to some.
I think that’s just Little Margie’s tongue, not lipstick.
Neil, upon further inspection I agree with you, that’s Little Martin’s tongue (YUCK) in panel two. That only confirms my assertion that Shelly messed up by not showing big Margie’s lipstick in the same panel. No big deal, everyone makes mistakes. I do wish you’d stop being such an apologist for the strip. I’m starting to think you’re on the payroll! LOL!!*
Big Margie gets her jollies by desecrating graves? Before, I almost sympathized with the Margie’s for the robbery, trying to keep their business afloat. But not now. (Now would be a good time for a cross-over with the Spectre, and his ‘Twilight Zone’ brand of justice.)
Now the next mystery for Tracy to solve after he figures all of this out is why in the world anyone does maintenance on a webpage between 4 and 11 pm US Central time. That’s what that crazy AM is for, people! Can you tell I’m not one of the multitude on here that stays up until midnight or later to view it when it immediately gets posted?
One “fun” bug that I am seeing now is when I use the “bookmarklet” for opening all the replys, the scrolling goes crazy up and down, up and down etc. until it finally stops in the middle. Hopefully tomorrow’s shutdown will fix that and the reply button also.

This story seems to have taken a very random bounce.

Not 100% sure, but I think the ‘Featured Comment’ is determined by the highest number of replies
Because conversation is a ‘good’ thing. XD

Is Little Margie kneeling in panel 2, or is she standing in an open grave? This might be more than vandalism, and could be grave robbing.

Ug…quite a turn of events here. Team tracy is keeping us, on our toes.

Until now, I thought Big Margie was a fairly likable villain. So she just turned into a sociopath. “Fun”?

Is this the end of the story? Not to be one who appears unhappy with things, I think it was a superb story! Better than the Siam Hotel one!

I think ‘Middle Margie’ might have just robbed Pop Tate’s Chok’lit Shoppe.
