When Oliver secretly started dating Trixie, Annie began to suspect something was going on and she hoped he wasn’t planning to get married just for her sake. In fact, Oliver was only getting married because he believed that Annie needed a mother.
Trixie put on a great show, pretending to love Annie and Sandy, so that the marriage would take place. She completely fooled Oliver, who thought she was a great wife and mother, but he gradually learned that she alienated all his close friends and threw away all his comfortable furniture because it wasn’t trendy enough. He probably never found put about her several attempts to have Sandy killed and she tried everything to get rid of Annie, whom she detested in actual fact.
1- TRACY: Ummm, is that something tweens are doing these days? Sit on their adopted dad’s lap? 2- WARBUX: How dare you suggest something untoward Tracy… 3- Do I look like some kind of sicko to you? Never mind! I insist you leave this minute! Annie – go get your nighties on and then we’ll watch Chinatown again. ANNIE: My favorite bedtime story! I love the way the rich old man saves his granddaughter from her mother!
A little backstory never hurts, I guess, and we are all happy for Annie (except maybe for tsull2121). But since Annie’s formal adoption has been mentioned before, I don’t see that today’s strip does much if anything to advance the storyline….

OK, seriously, the Annie I know and love would never be so disrespectful as to call Dicky Tracy. Who does she think she is, Junior?
It’s definitely creepy to see her sitting in Warbucks lap while he puffs away on his cigar. She’s way too old for that.
Tracy seems very uncomfortable with what he sees.

Almost 05:00 and no visible picture of Dick Tracy. Seems to be a general problem.

Oh no! Looks like the Punjabi sorcerer conjured up a black hole and the whole comic got sucked into it!

Annie seems happy about being officially adopted, who wouldn’t with Warbucks as their Dad!!!

I quite like the last panel of today’s strip. It is very touching, and humanizes Oliver to an extent that I don’t remember ever seeing before.

Oh, poor Annie. Time for a song! And a Rudolph crossover!
There’s always tomorrow to bring us a smile
Maybe we should borrow that thought for a while
For then we’ll both remember that life is but a game
We’ll fan the dying ember and coax it into flame

Is someone coming up on the elevator, which pertains to the story?

Hey fellahs! What ever happened to Wilbur Floppenheimer? Where did he drift off to?

The song “Tomorrow”, bad, almost as bad as this neverending story. Maybe Krazy Kat will exit that elevator.

An interesting set of doors on the elevator… Very Art Deco, I think.

Maybe Tracy can find their eyeballs, or at least the front of them, so they don’t always have those zombie stares.
