The chase is on! Lily is safely under arrest and the Howells are next. Tracy is headed out to cut them off at the pass (or something like that—there could be a pass). By the way, Illinois in the real world does not have a north-south highway called 167 and Wisconsin doesn’t, either.
The call to Tracy stated that the Howells “got through” – got through what? Anyway, it looks like the snow is starting to stick and accumulate – if the Howells try to make a run for it and a police chase ensues, it could get dicey for our two “master” criminals…
“U.S. Route 167 runs for 500 miles (800 km)1 from Ash Flat, Arkansas at U.S. Route 62/US Route 412 to Abbeville, Louisiana at Louisiana Highway 14. It goes through the cities of Little Rock, Arkansas, Alexandria, Louisiana, and Lafayette, Louisiana.”
Tracy’s department is so technologically advanced (thanks to Diet Smith.) Yet they’re still using sedan based interceptors, instead of SUV’s,especially with the “changeable” weather Tracyville experiences?
This continues to read like a typical, fun Dick Tracy yarn of days gone by, and I’m liking it. One thing – GoComics’ colorist recently started painting the two-way wrist device yellow, which it never was before.
1-PRIMM: You said you knew this town but we’ve been looking for hours for a seamstress to fix the cut you put in my coat.
DT: Do I dress like I know a seamstress? Or a tailor? Or a decent clothing store?
2-WATCHEE TALKEE: Just got a report of a fat lady pushing a station wagon full of non-taxed smokes into the Gas & Grub. Caller said it was the funniest thing he’s seen in weeks.
3-DT: MAYBE THEY’RE STILL THERE! Let’s take a break for a good laugh and then get back to business.
PRIMM: WAIT! YOU JUST PASSED A SEAMSTRESS SHOP!
DT: Laugh first, then coat! THIS IS TRACY! I’M IN ROUTE. WILL FORWARD PICS IF SHE’S STILL PUSHING! Over and out!
Too much today! Lily’s arrest deserves a few panels at least, and the station wagon getting through the cordon deserves some visual coverage, too. After all the build-up and the diversions along the narrative way, now is not the time to start cutting corners!

Good morning™, escape artist chasers !
Hwy 167 is endemic to the author’s home area.

Wow, We get a geography lesson in where routes are. It’s a comic folk, ya know, not real, fiction, like A man can fly is fiction
