If this strip wants to keep doing crossovers, it needs to stick to characters the artist can actually draw accurately. Steve Roper’s face looks very little like it did in his own strip, and Mike Nomad’s hair was always solid white.
Our man now has a group looking for him. He should just go back to Krazy Akres, walk in and tell them he was out for a walk around the block. If he can sit out on the snow filled grounds why not have a key to a back gate for that occasional walk about in town ?
I appreciate that some of our gang here aren’t too enamoured with the cross-overs, especially if they seem to deviate from the characters they know and love. However, for people like me outside US these are proving to be an education as we are seeing these folks for the first time ever. That is despite living in the US from 95-99, none of these strips were in the Sunday Funnies when I was there, so it’s fun to discover them through the DT crossovers. Just about the only one I knew at all before was Annie, and that from the musical movie. All that being said, I would love for Dick to get a visit from Modesty Blaise sometime (family friendly of course).
I can’t hold it in anymore! While carnage goes on behind them that was targeted at them, they have this ridiculous dialog. Say, was that your car that blew up, Steve? Oh, that old thing? happens all the time. lets go have coffee.
1-DT: Hey! I know you two. You’re Captain Oblivious and you’re his pal Clueless Boy. Why are you working for tips at the Siam.
2-CAPTAIN OBLIVIOUS: I beg your pardon! We have not been reduced to working for mere tips.
DT: Something about that water cannon reminds me of trains going into tunnels and a rocket launch and…
3-*CAPTAIN OBLIVIOUS: Ahem, as I was explaining, we take off with the luggage and fence any valuables we find. Crime solving hasn’t been too profitable since you do it all for free, Tracy.
CLUELESS BOY: Captain lets me keep the ladies’ undergarments. Hee hee.
CAPTAIN OBLIVIOUS: KEEP QUIET CB!
SAM: Ummm, does anyone remember that I’m badly injured? How about my name. Can somebody tell me that?
Woah. I sure appreciate the drawing style here! Beautiful work….. such a great, classic “noir” sort of style.
The story is captivating and intriguing as well. So…. what are the hypotheses about why Splitface is out for Steve and Mike’s hide?
Bigger question though from me as a newbie….. a few folks here talk of this being a “crossover”. That leads me to believe that Steve and Mike originate from some other comic? If I am correct, then would anyone be willing to give me a little backstory about those two…. as I do not recognize them nor the comic they are from.
You’d think that Sam and Tracy, being police officers, would at least be checking to see if there were any victims of the explosion who might need help. The Fire Dept. in Tracyville seem to have gotten there before Tracy could even introduce his friends to Sam. They are much more efficient than the police department apparently.
So, Mike Nomad and old Steve Roper have come to Tracyville to track Tulza Tuzon (a.k.a. Splitface, etc.), but Splitface and his henchman Clybourne knew it in advance and managed to boobytrap their spiffy little sportster at the Siam even before Sam and Tracy could meet up with Steve and Mike?

So, they ‘were’ the targets of the hit. ✨

Good morning™, friends!
So… Steve and Mike were brought to Tracy’s town by Tulza Tuzon (a/k/a Splitface)? Further explanations are warranted.
I’m happy to see the firefighters are already at work in the background.

Mentioned late in the day yesterday …
Might this Roper/Nomad character ‘also’ be involved? ✨

Someone yesterday mentioned puny names of Ohio cities For the baddies. Looks like we’ve moved to the Southwest.
