It seems like a pretty good disguise. I don’t think people would recognize easily that The Amazing Baxter is actually Fata Morgana. She says that Baxter “fills in while the heat is on” “until it is safe for Fata to return.” I wonder how long that will take. Also, how long will it take for Tracy to figure out that Baxter is really Fata?
That mask thing that Ab did certainly made an impression. After her big flub will it ever be safe for Fata to return ? Thanks for the posters compare, Shelley.
Member Lawrence S was 100% correct with his post 24 January 2024 suggesting Bob Baxter the Magician was Morgana’s alter ego and vice versa – hiding in plain sight. Very clever thinking on Lawrence S part. Gold star Sherlock Holmes award.
*Until it safe for Fatty to return". Because after some time cops will forgets all about you and you can goes back to doing shows in public as you again? Geez. What sort of insult to audience intelligence is this. What else can me says but preposteridiculudicrous. Me not wasting any more time on this comic.
1-RIKKI: What’s up with this stuff? All you did was buy a Halloween Mask at the Dollar General.
2-FATS: That’s for YOUR disguise. I didn’t have enough money to get you a mask…
3-…The brilliance of the mask is that since I never speak, it doesn’t matter that the mouth never moves! RIKKI: Won’t my “FM” shirt arouse Tracy’s suspicions? FATS: Tracy’s? The guy who let me perform my act and let me escape as a result?
BOTH: HAR HAR HAR! RIKKI: Wait…Sam might also be there!!! FATS: HAR HAR HAR! STOP! YOU’RE KILLING ME!!!
And now we understand the strange wording on P2 of yesterday’s strip: it was Fata speaking, and in this specific context it does make sense that she spoke of both “Fata” and “Bob Baxter” in the third person.
Bit of an update on my Dad. Still hasn’t woken up which is very bad. Trying to get an MRI of the brain done hopefully tomorrow (a stent in his shoulder is holding things up). Sister is coming in for the weekend from MS (she’s a doctor and since she’s in the liver transplant program, you really don’t want to see her because it is grim). Things are going to come to a head this weekend one way or the other. Thanks for the well wishes.
Btw, I do actually enjoy this story a lot. Huge Doctor Who fan so that inclusion was great, and I’m interested to see where this twist takes us next.

Oh boy, this is truly ridiculous.
Too bad, the story began with such promise, only to falter. Derailment is inevitable.

then who or what is Fata/Baxter’s TRUE identity?…

Now unless Tess is an avid fan of magic acts, how does Fata intend to carry out her mission?

I almost thought she is the descendant of Lon Chaney known as the man of a thousand faces.

If plot lines like this continue, Dick Tracy will be a sitcom. That is “situation comic strip”.

If you think the storyline is not much “chop”, hold on- I have a feeling a “Minit / Minute” Mystery will soon be appear- we are overdue for one.

She still has to kill Tracy’s wife, though? And do that as Fata, to get paid?

Read “A Scandal in Bohemia.” Irene Adler is a performer who sometimes worked in male drag – and used it to fool Sherlock Holmes.

someone want to tell Fata borgana that there is no statute of limitations for murder
Ignatz Premium Member 10 months ago
I assume the cops will question Baxter about where Fata is.

Safe to return? Like when the statute of limitations runs out on murder? (vis-à-vis: never)

I hear the “When you are in love, it’s the loveliest time of the year” song playing in the background as it does for some magicians!

There should be a footnote on panel 2 that reads: “Fata’s voice now sounds like a woman pretending to be a man.”

About “medical adhesive”—is that the same thing as old-fashioned “Spirit Gum”(which has a noticeable odor)?

Well,at least she didn’t have to steal Vitamin Flintheart’s makeup kit and disguise a flat head.
