We were on the bleachers waiting for our daughter’s HS graduation, and the man below us had two seats saved. A Random Woman got into an argument with him over letting her have those seats. He explained – and it shouldn’t have been necessary – that they were for his wife and another person. RW started screaming and stomping her foot about how rude it was of him to deny her a seat. The wife showed up and stood behind RW for a few moments, and then simply moved her aside, scuttled into the row and sat down. “Why is so important for you to sit beside MY husband? Do you have a crush on him?” RW threw a program at them and stormed off in search of an usher, who simply refused to make the couple move so RW could have the seat.
This is one instance where I am on the Penney’s side. You don’t sit on the visitor’s side unless you really are a visitor! That usher should have kept his mouth shut.
At baseball games in Japan, there are special, set aside sections in the outfield seats for organized cheering. If you sit in that section, you are supposed to cheer, chant and wave flags…but only when your team was at bat. When the other team was at bat, you were supposed to courteously sit quietly while they cheered.
They had a section for the visiting team as well. When the visiting team was at bat, the hometown fans were supposed to courteously sit quietly while they cheered.
The Shinkansen (bullet train) made it easy for fans to travel to away games.
