I suppose that would fit with canon, considering Sherlock did indeed do cocaine for its stimulant properties for a time, at least until Watson, disapproving of the habit, finally gets him all but weaned off of it.
In the original Conan Doyle tales, though, Holmes is never explictily described to be wearing a deerstalker.
