And you’ve both worked very hard at it, too.

Nah too hard to maintain for more than four minutes. Guess they’re outta luck. Maybe they can plead for leniency like Garfield did.

There is a lot to be said for just knowing that you are supposed to be trying to be good. Many don’t even make it that far.

Shouldn’t effort count for something? Some kids actually like being good, so it’s no achievement AT ALL for them to behave themselves.

But for healthier, more adventurous tykes, every opportunity for mischief that’s forgone represents a tremendous act of WILL, and that needs to be recognized!

Healthier? What does health have to do with being a trouble-maker?

Being a natural-born Goody-Goody is unhealthy; it indicates a want of vital spirit.

For another thing, it makes everybody else sick to their stomach.

And being in trouble made me sick to my stomach - and my Dad made sure I couldn’t sit for a week afterward.

In the long run, you’re better off for it. If you don’t challenge your boundaries when you’re young, you’ll never achieve greatness in maturity.

Two children are told “Don’t touch that stove”. One does, one doesn’t. The “bad” child may have gotten burned, but he’ll always have a better understanding of stoves than his companion.

“The only people who know where the limits truly lie Are those who’ve gone beyond them And came back to tell the tale.”

    – Hunter S. Thompson
