Something tells me you don’t want to see where you’re going anyway.

Wonder if Sophie might encounter Snoopy and his flying doghouse (Sopwith Camel).

Thanks for the kind words. I wanted to break away from my simple brush stroke style for this story ark. More of a throwback to cliffhangar strips like Buck Rogers.

Some of the comments on GoComics could be done by 1st graders who are self-taught critics.

There is room on the comics page for lush brushwork, and there is room for anarchic pen-scratchings. There are and have been McKays and Kellys and Caniffs, side by side with the Herrimans and Segars and McDonnells. With no offense to any Norman Rockwell as an illustrator, one may also find merit in a Ralph Steadman.

In defense of Cul de Sac, I think that a cartoon artist when creating a strip decides what style of cartooning would best match the statement he or she is trying to make. Cul de Sac is about young children and I think the drawing style captures the elements of the strip perfectly. One does not have to put incredible detail into a strip to make it work. Having said that Dog Eat Doug also captures Brian’s vision. Remember that Picasso started as a realist and switched styles with modest success. LOL
