Nah, dogs are definitely only smart in certain ways and not others! Just like they can figure out how to unlock a crate but never figure out where the flashlight beam is coming from. (though my last dog figured it out too fast)

First a large snack, then a nap on the recliner in the living room and if there’s time remaining, perhaps another large snack.
