^ And that one soul departs along with the first life. So fully 88.8% of the cats walking around on earth are soulless, demons or no.
“I will go further and say all cats are wicked, though often useful. Who has not seen Satan in their sly faces? Some preachers will say, well, that is superstitious ‘claptrap.’ My answer is this: ‘Preacher, go to your Bible and read Luke 8: 26-33.’” — Mattie Ross, True Grit (Charles Portis)
Shika-Mua, my comment was in response to Doctor Toon and elisaana.
That the cat is (currently) soulless is evident from the strip. The soul is “lost” and needs to be “gotten back.” And why would you believe the Demon Cat’s story about the lawyers? Are demons of any species known for being trustworthy? Besides, when you get shafted by signing a contract you haven’t read, it’s too easy to play “Let’s blame the lawyers” rather than the credit card company, used-car salesman, music industry executive, or devil who had them draw the contract up.
Ask Brian Anderson why he chose lawyers, not me. This is funny any way you see it.
Since you are quoting a book and not the bible, I will simply point out to readers there are no cats in that passage and hence why I don’t see a connection. Nothing personal.
Wasn’t taking it personally, Shika. The passages Portis cites (through Mattie) are about Jesus driving the souls of the devils into a herd of pigs, which leads me to believe that the superstitious ‘claptrap’ Mattie has the preachers identifying to be that evil spirits can inhabit the bodies (and perhaps displace the souls) of animals. In that respect, it’s directly relevant to the cartoon.
Of course, there are no references to cats (housecats, anyway) ANYWHERE in the Bible, which I find highly significant.
Something that is lost can be found. Sophie may be a chocolate lab (ohhhhh, chocoooolaaate) and not a bloodhound, but she could offer to help search? She is a puppy and puppies love to seek and find.

I don’t get the connection of that reference to this strip fritzoid.
This demon cat isn’t souless, he just owes his soul to the company of lawyers who sold him up the creek.

Hi Doc! Don’t worry. No harm done.
@fritzoid Of course they don’t mention cats in the bible. They just never met my Mua, my little angel! :-D
