My niece Stacie is 35 now. When she was little she had ‘blankie’. My sister-in-law thought she’d given it up years earlier but found a small piece of ‘blankie’ when Stacie was in high school that she had kept hidden all those years.
When I was 6, I was given a stuffed Pac-Man toy as a “going in the hospital” present right before my right foot was amputated. They told me I could bring Pac-Man into the operating room with me, so I did. And brought him with me for every subsequent surgery, up to and including reconstructive knee surgery when I was 23.
I have now had Pac-Man for nearly 40 years and to this day, he still has a place of honor on a shelf in my bedroom.

I feel that way about pacifiers.

You should only give up the battle as long as you don’t give up the war. It’s a generality, not a blanket statement.

Oh c’mon, Doug, you gave up too easily…that never worked on Linus Van Pelt, after all.
