The hotter the day, the longer the cat! Ours never did that splayed leg thing, but, it seemed like they could stretch out for miles and be purrfectly comfortable!
One of my dogs does this, but not the other. I even saw a Tasmanian Devil in the Toronga Zoo in Sydney Australia doing this! Nice to have a name for it.

My puppies to that once in a while but only on the tile floors. I assume it is cool on their tummies and other parts.
