It seems that this is an oldie that is being reprinted here since I collect these comic strips and put them in an album. Sophie is, indeed, doing her job as a watchdog here in a very adorable way.
A good guard dog knows the difference between what she is supposed to be watching and what she is supposed to be guarding. They are not necessarily the same thing.
