Panel #2 is dead on correct. Will is an adult Pit Bull and he would be too much for a lot of people.

Poor Will. He is hurt, and sadness is an emotion that he can’t handle, so he turns it into anger, an emotion that he can.

I know several people who have successfully adopted adult pitbulls. They are responsible pet owners and know that a pitty has a scary reputation, so keep them on lead. I agree that some people can’t handle a strong willed, working breed. Our doberman is a handful but the breeder let us take him because we have over 30 years experience with dobes. His brother however, was returned to the breeder in less than a year because they didn’t know how to handle him.

I agree, a breed like Will needs an experienced, calm owner. He is not for everyone, but he will make a wonderful companion for someone! Hang in there, Will! xoxoxo. <3

List him as an American Staffordshire Terrier. Maybe you can trick someone ignorant into adopting him.

The shelter in a nearby large city has no Pit Bulls. They are all Terrier mixes. I wonder what happens when they get adopted.

a good match between dog and family is vital. Love that “you can’t handle a toy poodle”. Poodles used to be a sporting breed.

I’d forgotten that is the breed name of a Pit Bull. I saw it listed as a restricted breed in an ad for a new apartment I was considering recently. Good to know. I agree they can be very good loving dogs, but it all depends on how they were raised and what their mood is at the time you encounter one. For that reason alone I agree they’re not a good breed for apartment living.

“pit bulls” are terriers. Terriers, once they make up their mind to do something, are hard to stop. They want to see their action through to the end. They were bred to be accepting of humans but more dog aggressive. Think about their old history. If they were aggressive to humans the handler would not be able to remove the dog from the fighting ring. |

That being said, with good breeding these dogs can still have the tenacity of a terrier but less aggressiveness with other dogs. A poorly bred dog with a nervous temperament, no matter the breed, can be trouble.
