My Norwegian elkhound loved going into the woods and chasing the cats with the black stripe down their backs. He was always so proud of himself when he would come back all stinky.

On 2 different occasions I have had wild skunks walk up to me and let me pet them, and one was a mom with 3 kits

Hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, a little Dawn dish soap. Make a paste, rub it in, rinse off. It works, had a dog that loved skunk butts.

Luckily, you can make de-skunk shampoo from products around your house. Mix 3 to 4 parts 3% hydrogen peroxide to 1 part baking soda, along with a teaspoon or so of dish detergent, and apply the mixture to your dog while it’s still bubbling.
