I was 14 when this Doonesbury strip came out. By this time I had seen the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr., Senator Robert Kennedy, along with massive rioting across the urban areas of the nation. The sense of loss exhibited by Mark and Mike in the strip accurately measured the sense of loss the nation was undergoing in the wake of Watergate.

Signing in as a millenial in 2019 , and I can relate.
Honestly though, reading about what everyone went through in the nixon and reagan eras does help a bit. I think there’s more generational unity then people understand.
