Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for March 02, 1985
Transcript:
Person: Mrs. Doonesbury, I hope you understand that we are here to ease the plight of family farmers, not so-called weekend farmers like yourself. Mom: But that's not fair! I wouldn't be in this mess if the government hadn't urged all of us to plant fence to fence! You and the bankers put enormous pressure on us to take out loans! My banker hounded me day and night! He gave me no choice but to expand production! Person: No choice, Mrs. Doonesbury? Mom: He offered me flatware! 64 pieces! What was I supposed to do, throw it in his face?
