Mike: Uh...J.J.? When's rehearsal over? J.J.: In about four hours. Why? Mike: Dinner. Would you like it served in there? J.J.: Mike, I've decided not to apply for any more N.E.A. grants... Mike: No? Why not? J.J.: Because a federally subsidized avant-garde is a contradiction in terms. The original avant-garde movement was created to break away from offically sanctioned art! It's time we got back to our roots! Instead of demanding support from the feds, I'm going to create a performance piece that spits in their faces! I'm going to write a show so offsensive, so incediary, they can't ignore me! Then I'll take it to Cincinnati, where they'll have to arrest me and send me to ajil, where I'll conduct a series of hunger strikes! It'll be a killer piece, an incredibly bold two-year statement1 Mike: Uh...two years? You'll be gone for two years? J.J.: Longer, maybe, depends on my sentence. Mike: And who's going to tkae care of the kid? J.J.: Who takes care of her now? Zonker: I do, but I don't work for felons.
