Lacey: Sure, it counts twice as much as we said it would, sure, it doesn't have a mission...sure, it's full of defects, sure it doesn't actually work. But are those good enough reasons to kill the program? Let's try one more time, general, what exactly is the B-2 bombers mission now that it is no longer needed for nuclear deterrence? General: It's a conventional mission, congresswoman, we need some way to deliver conventional weapons to targets. We need it big time! Lacey: Didn't our existing aircraft do that job rather effectively during the Gulf War? General: Okay, sure, but there are other missions as well! Lots of 'em! Lacey: Such as? General: Such as providing jobs in the districts of key committee members, if funded properly, the B-2 will continue to perform that mission well into the next century! Lacey: Okay, dear. Take a deep breath and try again. General: Air shows! We think it'd be cool at air shows! Except you couldn't see it! Too fast!
